Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has responded to fans who have called for his dismissal after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana’s hopes of competing at the AFCON in Morocco next year were dashed after a 1-1 draw with Angola on Friday.

The Black Stars have not won a single game in their five matches, leaving them in fourth place in Group F with three points after drawing three and losing two.

Ghana will be missing the AFCON for the first time since 2004.

Coach Addo has faced criticism for failing to qualify for the tournament, leading to calls for his dismissal.

“I trained under Sammer. I trained under Klopp; I was assistant to Edin Terzic, who was Dortumund’s head coach. They are also critical of some things, but this has much more value if I speak to Jurgen Klopp and he says this or that than somebody from anywhere saying blah blah, this is bad,” Addo said as quoted by GhanaWeb.

“People can judge me and surely most people can judge me by my results, which were not good.”

Addo has since urged Ghanaians to move on and now focus on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry and I am also disappointed, but surely we must move on and prepare for the (2026) World Cup qualifiers.”
