The Zambia national football team has been drawn in Group I alongside Algeria, Togo, and Burundi for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are set to kick off on September 21, 2026.

This will be the first time Zambia face Algeria in the AFCON qualifiers since 2021, when the two sides drew 3-3 in the return leg after the Chipolopolo suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat in the first encounter against the North Africans.

Against Togo, Zambia have met the West Africans eight times, with Togo winning five matches while the Chipolopolo have claimed three victories.

The 2012 African champions have also faced Burundi five times, recording two wins, two draws, and one defeat. However, this will mark the first meeting between the two nations in the AFCON qualifiers.

The 2027 AFCON will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The competition will run from June 19 to July 17, 2027, across the three East African nations.
