Over the weekend, Trident FC shocked Super League campaigners Green Eagles with a 1-0 defeat to secure qualification for the ABSA Cup semifinals.
Peter Musukuma scored the lone goal in that match to secure a place in the semifinals for the North Western-based side.
Trident will now face Super League side, F.C MUZA in the semi-finals, which will be played at Arthur Davies stadium on April 8, 2023.
MUZA were the only team in the quarterfinals to score more than one goal, as they defeated the reigning Super League champions, Red Arrows, 0-2 at Nkoloma.
Trident FC Coach Israel Mwanza, on his side’s historic qualification to the semi-final, says his team is not afraid of playing any side in the ABSA competition.
“I’m not scared of any team, because my team is just a step away from qualifying for the Super League, so the game that we are going to play (against FC Muza) will be 50/50,” he said.
Mwanza also described their victory over Green Eagles, as a great motivation for his team.
“Its a great motivation for the team as well as the technical bench. We now have to go to be drawing board, and we have to change our mentality and our attitude, and we just have to encourage the boys to work extra hard in our next game,” he said
