Ahead of the 2024 ABSA Cup quarterfinal match between Zesco United and Nchanga Rangers, goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata has issued a caution to his side.
The ABSA Cup will go to the quarterfinals this Saturday. At 12:30, Indeni Football Club will play Kabwe Warriors, and at 14:30, Power Dynamos will play FC MUZA.
Zesco United will take on Nchanga Rangers at 12:30 on Sunday, and Red Arrows and Green Eagles play to end the quarterfinals at 14:30.
Zesco defeated Barotse Crocs 4-0 to advance this far, while Nchanga Rangers progressed to the next round by eliminating River Plate on penalties.
Speaking in a video on the team’s official Facebook page, Nsabata said it will be a tough match against Nchanga.
He warned against underrating the Chingola-based National Division One side, as it is capable of upsetting the Super League side.
“I think it will be a bit of a tough match. It is not about them playing Division One; they are fighting to win promotion to the Super League,” Nsabata said. “We just have to go there and work to get what we want. We don’t have to tolerate them because for them to beat River Plate, they believe they can also beat us.”
And defender Solomon Sakala stated that Zesco United’s defense will be rock solid for the encounter against Rangers. “We are good to go, and we will do the job [defensively],” Sakala said.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ian Otieno has urged the players to take the game as seriously as it deserves. “Nothing changes; we will take them seriously,” the Kenyan goalminder said.
