According to the prosecutors in Nanterre, Achraf Hakimi was charged with rape on Friday.

Last week, a preliminary investigation was opened against Hakimi after a 23-year-old woman went to the police station and accused him of rape.

Although the alleged victim did not press charges, an investigation was opened due to the gravity of her testimony.

The prosecution office has since revealed to ESPN that the Morocco international has been placed under police monitoring.

Hakimi has also been banned from contact with the alleged victim.

Meanwhile, his lawyer, Fanni Colin, said he wants to clear his client’s name and will cooperate fully with the investigation.

The 24-year-old defender is said to have denied the allegations but has yet to make a public statement about the investigation.

Hakimi will be available for his club’s league match against Nantes on Saturday.

He has made 31 appearances for PSG in which he scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions this season.

Hakimi was key for Morocco at the Qatar World Cup where they reached the semifinals for the first time.

His four goals this season came in his 21 appearances for PSG in the French Ligue.
