Chisi Mbewe, a head coach for Red Arrows, Zambia’s sole envoy in continental football has described group C for the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup as a fair draw but not an easy group.
The Airmen are in Group C alongside Democratic Republic of Congo outfit AS Maniema Union and Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars.
The other team awaits the winner involving Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, AS Douanes of Mauritania and Guinea’s Hafia FC.
Speaking after the draw, Mbewe warned that his side will aim to qualify to the quarter finals of the competition.
“It is a fair draw for us, looking at the team that we have been drawn with. So, again, we know the job has now started,” Mbewe said.
“We need to ensure that we prepare adequately and ensure that we fight and qualify for the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup.”
He acknowledged that the draw would not offer an easy passage to success.
“Not an easy draw, yes. A fair draw, but not an easy one. So, we just need to ensure that we are ready; we prepare and ensure, like I’ve said, we qualify for the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup,” he said.
“At the moment, after qualifying to the group stage, we plan for the next target, which is qualifying to the semi-finals.”
