Despite maintaining their unbeaten run in the 2026-27 transitional league, with a goalless draw at Nkwazi FC, Green Eagles head coach Perry Mutapa, believes his side deserved to win the encounter at Edwin Imboela stadium on Saturday.
Green Eagles who lead Stream B were held to scoreless draw in a highly contested week five fixture.
Speaking in a post match interview, Mutapa was full of praise for the home side, High flying Nkwazi chasing for the first win of the campaign.
“Nkwazi FC controlled the first half with good play, despite failing to create clear threats on goal” Mutapa acknowledged.
The Tonka Twenede chasing for their maiden super league title took control of the match during the second stanza but failed to convert their chances into goals.
“We out played Nkwazi towards the end of the second half. Although we could not convert our chances, we created more than enough to win,” Mutapa said.
According to Mutapa, his squad objective was to block Nkwazi’s vertical passes into the 18-yard box, adding that goalkeeper Mangani Banda was equal to the task throughout.

Banda, who won last season’s Golden Glove award has now kept his third clean sheet from the last four league matches played so far.
The former Kabwe Warriors goalie and U-20 AFCON winner, joined the Choma based side ahead of the new season.

From four matches, Green Eagles has forced six goals and allowed only one goal in a 2-1 win over Roan United in a week three home fixture.
The ZNS sponsored side has won three times, drawing once in the last four super league fixtures.
