On Sunday, Nchanga Rangers suffered a 1-nil defeat to Power Dynamos, their second straight lose in the transitional league Stream A fixture at Arthur Davis stadium.
The match pitted Chipolopolo boys interim head coach, George Lwandamina coming face to face with Oswald Mutapa, his national team assistant coach.
In Week One, The Chingola-based side had opened with a home defeat to Zanaco FC and is now under pressure to full points when it hosts Trident FC on Wednesday.
Reacting to the result, Nchanga Rangers assistant coach Israel Mwanza blamed poor finishing against the league defending Champions.
“If you saw that game, I think the finishing part was not there. Even that split was not there, so I have to work on the finishing,” he said in a post-match interview.
Despite the defeat, Mwanza insisted that his players showed signs of progress after enduring early pressure from the defending champions.
“We’re challenge for the title” – Mwanza.
“Not much really; they were just under pressure in the first 15 minutes. After we came to talk to them, they picked up and started playing their own game,” Mwanza said.
With the season running on a compressed schedule, Mwanza said the technical bench had already shifted its attention to Wednesday’s fixture against Trident, where the team will be targeting its first points of the campaign.

“Pressure is always there, but what is important is that this game against Power Dynamos is gone. We have to focus on this game against Trident on Wednesday. We have to pick up maximum points, then we start moving,” he said.
Mwanza also insisted that Nchanga Rangers remain in the title race despite their difficult start, expressing confidence that the team can recover with improved performances in the coming matches.
“Of course, we are challenging for the title,” he said.
