Green Buffaloes head coach Aggrey Chiyangi believes his side will do better this season, pointing to improved attacking options as they prepare to face Roan United in this weekend’s MTN Super League encounter.
“Yes, we are going to do better than we did last season because if you look at the team, there is a difference,” he said.
“Especially when you look at last season, the problem that we had was scoring. Now, this season, at least we have got players that can score goals.”
The Zambia Army-sponsored side made a winning start to the campaign, defeating Chirundu United 2–0 on Sunday.
They will now face Roan United, who also opened their campaign with a victory, beating Nkwazi 2–1 in Lusaka.
Chiyangi believes Roan’s positive start is enough reason for Buffaloes to approach the encounter with caution, particularly as they will be playing away from home.
“If there are teams that I don’t like playing against, there are teams, the so-called small teams, and then the teams that are at the bottom of the league,” Chiyangi said.
“Those teams are very difficult to play against because they have got nothing to lose.”
The Green Buffaloes coach said Roan’s victory over Nkwazi showed that they are capable of competing and must therefore be taken seriously.
“They beat Nkwazi FC and that simply means they are playing well. So we are going to make sure that we plan very well for them,” he said.
“Being an away game, we have to be cautious and make sure that we get a positive result also.”
