Red Arrows began their 2026 Transitional League campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Mutondo Stars on Sunday.
The Airmen made a positive start to the short league campaign, with the result providing an early confidence boost as they look to put together a strong season.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Red Arrows head coach Chisi Mbewe praised his team’s performance but acknowledged that there were areas that needed improvement.
“We are happy with the way the team performed despite a few mistakes, which we just need to work on, but I think overall the team played so well and played according to instructions. We knew it was not going to be an easy game,” noted the coach.
Mbewe said the team had targeted a positive start, stressing the importance of collecting maximum points in a short league campaign.
“This game is what we planned for. We reminded the team that the transition league that we are playing is a short league, so the most important thing is we need to be focused, start on a good note, and ensure we start with a positive result so that it sets the tone for this league,” added the coach.
The Red Arrows coach also encouraged his players to remain composed and keep possession of the ball.
They will face Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday at home in their second game of the transitional league season.
