Zambian Super League side Green Eagles football Club have sent their head Coach Aggrey Chiyangi and his first assistant Rotson Kilambe on Administrative leave with immediate effect for 30 days due to poor results recorded in the last 6 games played so far.
According to the club statement, “the decision comes after a string of poor results that have been recorded in the first six games of the 2022/23 football season having finished third during the previous MTN Super League season.”
The statement further read: “The poor performances by the team raised some serious concerns amongst the fans, sponsors and other stakeholders.
“First Assistant Coach Mr Alex Namazaba has been appointed as Interim Head Coach with immediate effect. He will be assisted by Mr Hopson Kalengo, Mr Aaron Nyirenda, Mr Bob Banda and Mr Thomas Zimba.”
Green Eagles over the weekend lost to Kasansanshi dynamos 2:0 to make it three losses this season in their first 6 Super League matches and three consecutive matches without a win.
The Zambia national service sponsored side have only recorded 2 wins, one draw this season to sit in 13th position on the log standings with 7 points.
Eagles have since called on their fans to rally behind the interim coach as he takes over the team starting with this weekend’s clash with George Lwandamina’s Kabwe Warriors at independence stadium in in Choma.
