Blessings Zangose Zulu, a Copper Queens newbie, says the back-to-back friendly matches against Algeria will be key in determining how far the team can go in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Zambia is in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Egypt, and Malawi. The team will camp in Algiers, Algeria, before traveling to Morocco.

On July 19 and 22, Zambia They will face Algeria in two friendly matches..

The Zanaco Ladies FC midfielder has earned her first national team call-up and reveals she has settled well in the squad.

Zulu states that playing in the Super League has made it easy to adapt to the demands of the national team.

“Preparations are going so well; everybody is pushing, everyone is working hard, and as a team we are working together. I’m excited, yeah; for me being my first time, I’m excited about it because I’ve adapted so well,” Zulu said.

“The senior players are always encouraging me. It’s so good; all of us are pushing. It’s good because most of us are playing in the Super League. The game against Algeria will determine if we go further whilst competing to go to the World Cup.”

And 14-year-old Winfridah Mutale, who features for Elite Ladies, said she is learning from senior players in the squad.
