The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and and the Super League of Malawi (SULOM), have resolved their differences, a move viewed as crucial for Malawian football.
The difference between the two parties was discussed and resolved during the FAM’s annual general meeting held at Sunbird Livingstonia beach in Salima on Saturday.
Prior to the AGM, reports suggested that FAM intended to dissolve SULOM.
FAM had invited all Premier League clubs to attend the meeting. The move didn’t sit well with SULOM, on account that clubs don’t belong to FAM.
The meeting only took one and a half hours to the surprise of delegates.
FAM president Fleetwood Haiya said FAM and Sulom agreed that moving forward, the two bodies should not entertain the media.
They realized that there are some people who are trying to create a rift between FAM and Sulom.
“As the Football Association of Malawi, we are not in a fight with anyone. As a mother body, we will never be in competition with any of our affiliates,” said Haiya.
SULOM president Gilbert Mitawa said, “I can confirm with you that we have resolved all our differences between us and FAM and that we need to move Malawi football forward”
