NAPSA Stars coach Tenant Chilumba has addressed his side’s struggles in front of goal, stressing that scoring should not be left to the strikers alone.

Chilumba said every player on the pitch shares the responsibility of finding the back of the net, insisting that even defenders and goalkeepers must be ready to contribute when the opportunity arises.

Napsa are among the lowest scorers in the Super League. In 20 matches, the Pensioners have only managed to score 12 goals. In the last five games, they have only managed to score one goal.

Chilumba has stepped up to fill the void left after the dismissal of Sipho Mumbi.

Speaking to the club media on Tuesday, the former Chipolopolo international said scoring is a collective responsibility.

“We would say scoring [is the challenge]; I don’t believe in strikers, it is the whole team, even a defender can score or a goalkeeper, so it is just the whole team, so we are working on that. I am sure there will be change,” Chilumba said.

Chilumba’s first game in charge saw them lose 2-0 to Red Arrows. He has described taking over the team as a big challenge.

“If you look at where we are now, we needed somebody to pick the team. Of course I was the TD, but I have been there already as a coach, so I think it is just the position which has changed, but I am still the coach. It is a big challenge, of course, but I have been with the team for the last few weeks. I am sure with the coming on of Coach Zeddy and Kegan, I think they will add value to the team,” he said.
