Following a painful three-match winless streak in the MTN Super League, FC MUZA’s head coach Noel Phiri is relieved as his team returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Mines United in Kabwe.
The victory came as a much-needed morale boost for the Mazabuka-based outfit, who had endured back-to-back defeats before managing a draw in their previous outing.
“We came here to make sure we push for maximum points. Coming from two losses and a draw, it wasn’t healthy, but now at least we have bounced back in the competition,” Phiri said after the game.
Lewis Kasono’s 69th-minute goal proved decisive in a tightly contested match that saw MUZA dominate possession but waste several clear-cut chances.

Despite their missed opportunities, Phiri praised his players for maintaining focus and grinding out a result away from home.
The coach emphasized the importance of turning their improved attacking play into more goals.
“It’s positive the team is able to create scoring chances. What is important now is to start converting more than one goal.”
With their confidence restored, FC MUZA will now turn attention to their next fixture against NAPSA Stars next weekend.
Phiri says the team must build on this result and sharpen their finishing ahead of the home clash.
“We just have to prepare for them adequately, as we will be playing at home, and work hard in terms of scoring.”
The hard-fought win could mark a turning point in MUZA’s season as they aim to climb the MTN Super League standings and rediscover the form that saw them start the campaign strongly.
