Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) finally claimed their first UEFA Champions League title, ending years of frustration. After 12 consecutive knockout round exits, the 13th time proved lucky as they dismantled Inter Milan in a historic 5-0 final victory in Munich on Saturday night.

This win also secured a treble for PSG, marking the pinnacle of a dominant season under Luis Enrique’s management.

From the first whistle, PSG looked unstoppable. They pressed aggressively, moved the ball with speed, and tore through Inter’s defense with ease. Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring after a precise sequence involving Vitinha and Doué. Then, Doué doubled the lead before 20 minutes, and added a third after halftime, assisted by a clever backheel from Dembélé. Kvaratskhelia made it 4-0 with a breakaway finish, and substitute Senny Mayulu sealed the rout with a late fifth.

Inter, despite a strong domestic season and hopes of European redemption after their 2023 final loss to Manchester City, were completely outclassed. Their 3-5-2 setup was no match for PSG’s high-tempo, positionally fluid 4-3-3. Their best chances—headers from Thuram and a late shot in the 75th minute—were either off-target or denied by Donnarumma. PSG’s pace and creativity, especially from Vitinha, Doué, Dembélé, and Barcola, constantly exposed Inter’s aging backline.

The night was filled with emotion, including a moving tribute to manager Luis Enrique’s late daughter Xana after the trophy lift. PSG fans flooded the pitch in celebration, stunned by the level of dominance their team had shown. It was a night where big budgets, bold tactics, and young talent finally paid off.

For PSG, this wasn’t just a victory—it was the fulfilment of a long, painful journey to European glory.
