Kashala Vows to End Match Fixing in Zambia

The former FAZ secretary general has alleged that match-fixing exists in Zambian football and has pledged to put an end to it.

Adrian Kashala has vowed to tackle match-fixing in Zambian football if elected president of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) at the elective annual general meeting on Saturday.

Kashala is one of four candidates challenging incumbent Andrew Kamanga for the FAZ top job. The other contenders include FC MUZA owner Keith Mweemba, former Chipolopolo vice captain Emmanuel Munaile, and outgoing FAZ committee member Francis Hafwiti.

In his latest campaign clip, Kashala has insinuated that there is match fixing in Zambia, something that he will work to stamp out should the councillors give him the mandate.

“We are determined to deliver football transformation,” Kashala said. “Enhanced training, improve monetary conditions for our coaches and referees, and ensure we stamp out match-fixing in our game.”

Over the years, match fixing has been described as a cancer that has come to Zambian football, with Kamanga recently urging referees not to engage in the practice.

With the season approaching the business end, chances of match manipulation are high in that some teams have nothing but pride to play for, while others are looking to challenge for honours.
