Zambian players abroad weekend wrap | Chama scores, Kangwa, Kampamba assist

Chipolopolo's captain Lubambo Musonda has returned from injury, while Chama scored twice for the Young Africans.

Clatous Chama netted two goals in 14 minutes after coming on as a substitute for Young Africans SC, who trounced Mashujaa 5-0. He now sits at six goals and seven assists in 27 games in all club competitions this season.

Making a 10-minute cameo in that emphatic victory was compatriot Kennedy Musonda.

Elsewhere on the continent, Kelvin Kampamba assisted Al Madina’s 95th-minute equaliser in the Tripoli derby against Al Ahli.

Kings Kangwa inspires 9-man Be’er Sheva to shocking win

Kings Kangwa set up the winning goal for Hapoel Be’er Sheva in their dramatic 2-1 win against Maccabi Netanya. Despite his side conceding two red cards, the playmaker was exceptional in midfield, winning the Man of the Match award.

In England, Patson Daka could only watch from the dugout as Leicester fell 4-0 to Brentford at the King Power Stadium.

Lubambo Musonda returns, Twizard Mulenga gets red card on first start

Chipolopolo skipper Lubambo Musonda was back on the pitch for 1.FC Magdeburg after recovering from an adductor tendon injury. He was introduced from the bench at the interval against Karlsruhe, making his first appearance since October.

38 minutes into his first start for Cadiz B, Twizard Mulenga was sent off on Sunday after picking up two yellow cards. Eventually, countryman Peter Chikola was chucked off at halftime. In the first team, Francisco Mwepu was not in Cadiz’s matchday squad for their clash against Castellon.

Songa Chipyoka squared up against Chipolopolo teammate Gift Mphande in Israel as Hapoel Petah Tikva defeated Hapoel Rishon Lezion 3-0 in the Liga Leumit. Meanwhile, in Italy, Joseph Liteta played a full 90 minutes for Cagliari U20 in the Primavera on Sunday.

Ricky Banda played the first hour of Al Merrikh’s 3-0 walloping of Kaedi on Saturday while Obino Chisala featured for the last 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Golden Mafwenta started for Metalist 1925 in a club friendly on Sunday.

Frankie Musonda and Edward Chilufya benched, Mutandwa and Sabobo unavailable

Frankie Musonda was an unused substitute in Ayr United’s 1-0 loss to Livingston on Saturday as he continues to await his first appearance of 2025. Edward Chilufya and Miguel Chaiwa were not called upon from the bench at the weekend by their respective sides.

Joseph Sabobo Banda missed FC Zurich’s 2-1 win against Yverdon-Sport while Benson Sakala was not in Mlada Boleslav’s matchday squad. Meanwhile, neither Kingstone Mutandwa nor Lameck Banda featured in the Italian Serie A.
