After a month away from Malawi after his contract with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets expired, Zimbabwean strategist Kalisto Pasuwa is back in Malawi.

Since head coach Patrick Mabedi was fired in October of last year, the Malawi Men’s Football team has been without a coach.

Pasuwa, as temporary coach for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifiers, he oversaw two games: one away against Burundi and one against Burkina Faso in Malawi.

Pasuwa landed in Malawi on Thursday, according to Fleetwood Haiya, president of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), who spoke to Times Radio.

Without disclosing full details, Haiya said Pasuwa is still interim coach for Flames.

“Pasuwa is our interim coach, that is what you should know for now,” said Haiya.

FAM has already received approval from the Malawi Sports Council to hire a new head coach to succeed Mabedi.

In March of this year, Malawi will be in camp getting ready for World Cup qualifying matches.
