Super League giants Nkana are in no hurry to pull the trigger of coach Ian Bakala despite the dismal start to his first full season with the record title holders.
Nkana find themselves in the relegation zone with only one win from seven games played so far.
Nkana has dropped points to less fancied sides like Mutondo Stars, Atletico Lusaka, Lumwana Radiants ‘coachless’ Zesco United and now Green Eagles.
Three losses, as many draws and one win has seen them occupy the third from bottom slot on the log.
Club sources have told Bolanews that some of the most vocal supporters are already calling on the top executive to act quickly on Bakala before it is too late.
The fans are urging the club to emulate bitter rivals Mufulira Wanderers who iced Charles Kafula following a poor opening to the campaign at Shinde Stadium.
However, Nkana who are not shy to fire coaches are taking their time owing to a number of implications.
Bakala faces crucial ties ahead against rivals.
The illustrious side operates on a relatively limited budget, primarily provided by the massive mining company Mopani Copper Mines (MCM). Letting Bakala go would be costly to the sponsors, because he has a two and a half years contract.
When Bakala took over from Beston Chambeshi, the previous season, he was hired as a long-term project.
