Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Francis Mwansa has regained form and moved up the starting order at his club after a difficult season in which he even lost his spot on the national team due to a lack of playing time.
Last Saturday in the MTN Super League, Mwansa displayed remarkable play against Power Dynamos. He won man of the match honours with a series of outstanding saves as his team triumphed 2-1 on the road.
As the team sits in second place with 11 points after six games, Mwansa has only allowed two goals.
Speaking exclusively to Bolanews, the 21-year-old said he is happy with his current performance and hopes to win the league with the Army side.
“I am very happy because this season I have started well and my dream this season is to help the team so that we can achieve something this season,” said Mwansa.
After that showing against Power Dynamos, Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant, who has always seemed to like the former Trident FC goalkeeper, named him in his 26-man roster for the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifier against Chad in Ndola on Friday.
“He [Francis] is good and will be for the future of the country; he is young,” Grant said in November last year.
Mwansa will play for Green Buffaloes this weekend when they face FC Muza on Saturday before joining the Chipolopolo camp.
