Cyril Chibwe, the former goalkeeper for the Chipolopolo boys, left Zesco United of Zambia in July after his contract expired.
Chibwe joined the Ndola based side in 2022 after he left Baroka F.C., a Premier Soccer League (PSL) team. He has returned to South Africa to play for Black Leopards in the 2024–25 season.
After playing in the CAF continental competitions, alongside the previous Zambian League winners, the 31-year-old feels that this is the ideal time for him to return to the South African league.
“I felt like I had done my part in Zambia. So, I wanted to take the team back to the Champions League.” he said in an interview with the FARPost.
He further expressed satisfaction with his achievements with Zesco United
“I am happy that the team returned to the CAF Confederation Cup, and I did my part,” he explained
He added that is main target now was to help, Black Leopards secure promotional to the top South African league this season.
“This season, you expect more hard work and more determination. I want to help the team as much as possible and guide the young ones in the team so that they can improve their game for the betterment of the team,” he said.

Chibwe, whose parents are from Zambia, was born in South Africa. He has played for several South African teams, including Platinum Stars, Jomo Cosmos, and Polokwane City.
