Leicester City FC striker Patson Daka has become the most valuable footballer in the COSAFA region, surpassing Atletico Madrid’s Mozambican left-back Renildo Mandava.

Following Mandava’s drop in transfer valuation from €16 million to €12 million, Daka now occupies the top spot in Southern Africa with a market value of €14 million, according to Transfermarkt’s most recent update.

The Chipolopolo talisman’s prolific goal-scoring record form for club and country in recent months has played a crucial role in maintaining his market value. Since mid-November, Daka has contributed to 18 goals in 21 games in all competitions, scoring 12 and assisting six.

Hence, according to the German website transfermarkt.com, Daka now boasts the highest market value of any Southern African football player, with a price tag of €14 million.

Foster’s market value increases

Meanwhile, South African striker Lyle Foster, who is currently on the books of Premier League side Burnley FC, is now second in the COSAFA region with a market value of €13 million. Despite only starting 13 Premier League games this season, he is the joint-top scorer for the relegation-threatened Clarets with four goals.

Atletico Madrid’s Mandava now ranks third in Southern Africa alongside Angola’s David Carmo and Zimbabwe’s Marshall Munetsi, with a valuation of €12 million.

Carmo has been exceptional for Greek side Olympiacos this year since joining them on loan from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Munetsi, on the other hand, has bossed the middle of the park this season for French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Reims, contributing to six league goals from midfield in 20 games. The Zimbabwean star was also very instrumental in the Warriors penalty shootout win over Zambia at the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen is Africa’s most valued player with a €110.00 million market value.

Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappé are all tied for the top spot in the world, with a market value of €180.0 million each.
