Ivory Coast defender Willy Boly believes his squad has the motivation to win the Africa Cup of nations title a third time after leading the team to qualification for the Afcon Finals, where they will play Nigeria on Sunday.

The 33-year-old defender has played for Cote d’Ivoire in four games at the 2023 AfCON tournament.

Cote d’Ivoire beat DR Congo 1-0 in a highly contested match to book a spot in the finals in their quest for a treble continental title.

Following a disappointing group stage performance the tournament hosts have found their form and are now, favorites to win the Afcon title on Sunday.

Boly, nevertheless, thinks they have more motivation to win the finals on Sunday after their triumph over DR Congo.

“I am very happy; we did play well against a good team. Going into the final game, it will be important for us to win it for our Country,”

The Cote d’Ivoire defender, meanwhile, is optimistic that they will benefit from home ground support.

“When you get to this stage, both teams are likely to win the competition. So, chances are 50/50 for both teams,”

“When we are at home, we always look compact and we now have the opportunity to return and show up,” said Boly.
