FC MUZA head coach Mathews Ndhlovu has revealed that his side still has some scores to settle with Forest Rangers ahead of the showdown in a rescheduled Super League match this weekend in Mazambuka.
Fole Malembe beat the Elegant Dynamites 1-nil in the final to lift last season’s Absa Cup title.
This Saturday, the two sides will be meeting for the first time since their ABSA Cup final clash, though with changes on the technical benches as Ndhlovu is now in charge of the Mazabuka side while Kennedy Kashobondo is interim head coach following the departure of Ian Bakala.
Commenting on the upcoming match, Ndhlovu said Forest Rangers has to ‘pay’ for denying his side a chance to win silverware last season.
The gaffer, who is anticipating a tough match, has revealed that his charges will take the game to Fole Malembe as they aim to collect the maximum number of points.
“They (Forest) still have something to pay back, of course, the ABSA (Cup). It is a story we need to share but it is going to be a different ball game altogether,” Ndhlovu said.“We need to prepare adequately for the Forest Rangers; they are a good side. We will give them a game that is worthy of our ambitions.”
After failing to make the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, Ndhlovu has shifted his focus to the local league title.
Ndhlovu wants to win the league with FC Muza
He said the team is targeting winning the Super League while noting that there is a lot that his players need to learn before they can fully compete for the league.
“After being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup, we are now focused on the local league and the morale is high within the team,” he revealed.
“The target is to win the league but we need to win the game first; we need to collect points, then we are in charge of the league.”
“We need to still continue instilling mental strength to make the players understand that continental football is over and they now need to focus on the local league.”
FC MUZA and Power Dynamos are currently undefeated in six league matches and have both collected 12 points while sitting in 3rd and 4th positions on the log standings.
