On Saturday afternoon, Kabwe Warriors defeated Prison Leopards 2-1 in a week five super league fixture at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium to win the town’s rivalry.
With the win, Kabwe Warriors are now in third place with 8 points, while Prison is still in 13th place with 5 points.
Ocean Mushire equalized the score ten minutes after Lunda Miate had given Prison Leopards the lead in the 28th minute. In the final minute, Field Kandela secured the victory.
Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba commended his team for a valiant victory.
“A very important victory especially that we were playing a derby it was a game that was heavily contested. After our opponents went ahead, we managed to fight back and get a winning goal” said Mumamba.
“I think the team has performed very well we controlled most of the proceedings in this game every time we are behind, we are still getting to come back which is a plus to the team,” noted Numba.
Meanwhile, the former Zanaco boss believes the victory against their rivals, Prison Leopards has boosted the team’s morale going into their next fixture.
“Today’s game motivates us as we prepare for Nkwazi, it won’t be an easy game they are playing good football we just have to get down to work, so that we get a victory over Nkwazi,” said Numba.

Warriors will now turn their focus to their upcoming task as they host Nkwazi, and Prison Leopards will travel to Lusaka to take on Zanaco.
