Reports in Spain claim that as many as four clubs have entered the race to sign Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan. According to SPORT, Barcelona have tried to persuade the midfielder by extending their contract offer to three years with reduced wages, while Arsenal have offered a two-year deal and a lucrative proposal is also expected from a Saudi club.
Gundogan could reportedly return to Borussia Dortmund this summer as Barcelona cannot afford to pay the out-of-contract Germany midfielder’s wages. The player is after a two-year deal to stay at the Etihad Stadium, but the German publication Bild report that City are only willing to offer him a one-year extension.
