Bolanews has learned that reports suggesting that Ian Bakala, the coach of CAPS United, and his technical bench have been given a two-match ultimatum are untrue.

This comes after local media reported that club president Farai Jere had called Bakala and his staff for a meeting where he allegedly read the Riot Act after becoming irate over the team’s 1-2 loss to Yadah, which put the Green Machine in danger of relegation.

The reports further claimed Jere demanded immediate improvement, starting with the FC Platinum match, warning that failure to win would result in dismissals.

According to reports, the Harare businessman also spoke with senior players and questioned why they had suddenly lost their form and suffered so many injuries when the team was offering lucrative winning bonuses.

According to those reports, Jere ordered the squad into a two-day camp in Masvingo before facing FC Platinum—a game CAPS went on to win 1-0.

An insider, has refuted the ultimatum claims, but said that Jere called for unity and better performances.

“The president’s message was about restoring the spirit of togetherness and fighting for the badge and not an ultimatum as suggested in the media. He has been supportive of the coaches, and the focus is on moving forward positively,” the source told Bola News.

Bakala, did not report to a press query by Bolanews.

CAPS United are currently in 10th place with 31 points, three points above the relegation zone.
