Zesco United goalkeeper, Ian Otieno is optimistic about his side winning the Zambian Super League.
The Ndola-based side lost 3:4 on post-match penalties to Nchanga Rangers, preventing them from winning their seventh ABSA Cup title.
The nine-time Super League Champions began their ABSA Cup campaign with a 4-0 victory over Barotse Crocs in the tournament’s Round of 16.
Otieno has been impressive for the Ndola-based side helping them sit in the second position in the league standings with 50 points from 27 matches played so far.
Zesco is seven points behind league leaders Red Arrows. They must win all seven of their remaining matches to stand a chance of winning the league and hope the Airmen drop points.
Otieno, who was an unused substitute against the Rangers, believes the team still has a chance to win the league.
“Yesterday we fell short of one of our targets… There is still room for improvement,” said the Kenyan international in a Facebook post. “We take the disappointment and use it as a spring to propel us to the battle that awaits us. We keep on believing that something is coming home.”
Zesco will face Red Arrows on Thursday in what is expected to be a nail-biting encounter.
