Copperbelt-based MTN Super League giants Zesco United and Power Dynamos have both seen their bids to sign FC MUZA striker Andrew Phiri rejected by the Mazabuka side, BolaNews has learned.
Phiri, who reluctantly returned to the club late this season after expressing a desire to leave, remains tied to MUZA after signing a contract extension last season.
This deal kept him at the club despite attracting serious interest from top teams, including Zesco United.
MUZA is determined to remain competitive and is holding firmly to its key players. This was evident in their fight to retain then-captain Kelvin Mwanza, who was on the verge of joining Power Dynamos during the off-season. The club managed to secure Mwanza’s services with a new long-term contract at the start of the season.
Phiri has been MUZA’s standout performer for the past three seasons, proving to be one of their most reliable goal scorers, having netted seven goals in 11 games.
Sources within the club suggest that only offers of ZMK2 million or more could persuade MUZA to consider letting go of their prized striker.
