Zephaniah Phiri, a defender for Red Arrows, has begun light training following an injury sustained before the 2024–25 Zambian Premier Super League season.
Phiri suffered a groin injury as the Chipolopolo boys were competing in the four-nations competition held in Malawi.
The Chipolopolo boys defender left Arrows in 2019 to join Buildcon, then a year later he joined Prison Leopards before returning back to his parent Club, the Air Men.
Phiri has been out of action since the beginning of the 2024/25 season and has not played in any single game.
Phiri stated in an exclusive interview with Bolanews that he is eager to get back to playing soon after a protracted absence.
“I started training now, am pushing and so far, so good. Am hoping things will get better this year. But I keep getting better each day than I was,” said Phiri.
Red Arrows, the league’s defending champions, will play Power Dynamos on Saturday when play resumes after a mid-season break on January 11. Phiri is eager to return to the field and support his team in defending their league title.
