Indeni Football Club striker Martin Phiri says the team is aiming to win 10 matches in the second half of the season to climb up from the bottom of the MTN-FAZ Zambian Premier Super League table.

Indeni secured a crucial win last weekend against Zanaco FC at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, marking their first victory of the season.

The win has now given the team six points from the 18 league matches played in the ongoing season so far.

Even though currently at the bottom, Phiri tells Bola News in an interview that the club has set a target of at least winning ten matches to climb up the league standings.

Phiri notes that the team has been working hard to register a win, which didn’t come through prior to last Sunday’s match against Zanaco.

“It has been hard to win the games, but we have been playing well despite having negative results,” Phiri said. “We are pushing hard to turn around the situation because so far we have 16 games left. So, we need to win at least ten games.”

The former Green Buffaloes striker adds that the team is aiming to secure full points in at least the 10 games when the season resumes.

“The first ten games we have to win. We agreed in training that the first ten games we have to pick maximum points. Definitely we will survive. The other teams need to be careful with Indeni; we play good football. We are not a pushover team; we are here to compete and win,” he added.
