Kabika has told BOLA NEWS in an exclusive interview that MUZA FC is not against the reigning ABSA Cup winning coach instead their complaint to the Football Association of Zambia filed last season which has led to a three-match ban for Mutapa, was meant to defend the principles of the game following his match-fixing claims.

Actually we didn’t complain against Mr Perry Mutapa, we only wanted the disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations that were levelled against the referee, we are definitely not against the young man (Perry Mutapa) but we simply wanted the disciplinary committee to have look at whatever was said.

Kabika told Bola News

He stated that referees are “normal human beings” just like everyone else and they are bound to make mistakes in their duties and called on all stakeholders to take a self-introspection before judging match officials.

Kabika added that it is unfortunate that referees are always on the receiving end, and unfairly blamed whenever teams fail to achieve their desired results.

Usually, referees are always unfairly blamed whenever teams fail to achieve the desired results, Even when teams fail to score goals they blame goes to the referee, I feel this is so unfair and it has the potential to damage our game,

Everyone is supposed to play their part, before attacking the match officials, as a coach you have to ask yourself; how many goals have we scored? why not attack your players who even missed a penalty? I have been to stadia where fans even throw stones, now can those fans be better than a referee who just gets on decision wrong?

Asked Kabika

Last week, the FAZ disciplinary committee handed Perry Mutapa a three-match ban over Match-fixing claims he made against MUZA F.C last season when the two teams were campaigning in the National Division One League, a thing which led the Tangala coach to miss his team’s clash against Green Eagles on Sunday at the Heroes Stadium.

The MUZA General Secretary has since urged football stakeholders to refrain from attacking referees whenever they feel aggrieved, advising them to instead follow the laid down procedure when expressing dissatisfaction with match officials.
