Power Dynamos football club coach Mwenya Chipepo has described his team’s performance in the Super League as a “miracle.”
Chipepo has stated that he has no idea how his team has risen to the top of the league and that his focus is not on winning the title, but on rebuilding a team that has struggled in recent years.
“We are not even thinking of winning the league; we have just found ourselves on top of the league,” he said. “We are in the process of rebuilding Power Dynamos.”
When asked why he does not know how his team is on top of the log standings, Chipepo said: “We are in the process of rebuilding a team that has struggled for 10 years, so we didn’t expect to perform the way we are performing [it’s a miracle].”
He added that: “ We want to make sure that at least people see the old glory days of Power Dynamos. You haven’t yet seen Power Dynamos.”
Chipepo declares Power ready for ABSA Cup
Chipepo stated at the 2023 ABSA Cup press conference in Lusaka on Friday that winning the league and the country’s only cup competition this season would be a bonus for him.
“If we win the league, that will be a very big bonus, and if we win the ABSA Cup, I will appreciate my players because, if you see where we are coming from, Power Dynamos have struggled for the past 10 years. So if we win one, two, or both, I will really appreciate it.
Dynamos, who are seven points clear at the summit of the league with 50 points, will take on Mufulira Wanderers tomorrow in the quarterfinals of the ABSA Cup.
Chipepo declared his team ready for the match against Zambia’s most successful club, Mufulira Wanderers, who have won the most trophies(49) in Zambia and currently playing in the National Division.
“We are very confident that we are going to do well because of the current performance of our team.”
Dynamos have won the ABSA Cup twice, in 2009 and 2011, and will look to win it for the third time in their history.
They are unbeaten in 15 games and come into this match after defeating Buildcon 0-5 last weekend in the Super League.
