Napsa Stars managed a 0-0 draw against league leaders, Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, closing out the year on a positive note.
The Zambian Premier League-MTN Super League has gone on a break until early January 2025.
Head coach Sipho Mumbi is happy with the result, highlighting the difficulty of facing a Zesco side sitting at the top of the table with 32 points.
“Not a bad result considering the fact we were playing a Zesco team that is on a high in terms of their position on the log,” said Mumbi.
Although he admitted his team had hoped for all three points, Mumbi was content to take something from the encounter.
“I think we did very well and am happy with a draw though we wanted to collect maximum points.”
Napsa’s campaign has been inconsistent, with only four wins, eight draws, and six losses in their 18 matches.
Goals have remained a key issue, managing to score 13 times against 14 goals allowed, resulting into a minus one goal difference.
Mumbi acknowledged the need to use the league break to address their struggles.
“Our focus now is just to make amends where we see we are not doing well,” he said.
Mumbi also revealed plans to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window, particularly in the attacking department.
“Add one or two players especially upfront to come and help what we have currently,” the coach stated.
