Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has urged his players to focus on maximising points to ensure they do not drift away from the team’s main objectives.

The Airmen and Mines United will battle it out in their midweek fixture at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium on Wednesday.

Red Arrows are currently topping the league table with 35 points from 17 games. The Lusaka-based side has dropped four points in their previous three matches, drawing against Green Buffaloes, losing to Green Eagles, and beating Mufulira Wanderers.

On the other hand, Mines United appear to have rejuvenated and are gradually pushing to revive their chances of surviving relegation.

Mines United are bottom of the table, having managed just two wins, six draws, and 10 losses, accumulating 12 points.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the match, Mbewe said he hopes the team will improve their away form.

“I would say in a few games we have not done well, but that’s football. But again, it’s something that we have been working on. Something that we need to improve and ensure that we improve our away results,” he said.

We know what we want- Mbewe

Chisi Mbewe anticipates a tough encounter.

“Not an easy game to play. Mines are away recently; they have picked up some good form, but the most important thing for us is we remain focused,” Mbewe said. “We know it’s not going to be a walk in the park. It’s going to be a very tricky game, a difficult game, but the most important thing is that we know what we want, and we know what this game means for us.”

He reiterated his message to the players ahead of the trip: “To the players, the message is loud and clear: we are not going to Kabwe, I would say, for a honeymoon. We are going to Kabwe for a serious mission. We know what is at stake; we know what we want this season.”
