Forest Rangers secured their first three points on the road against Trident FC at Solwezi's Independence Stadium on 17th March 2024 | Forest Rangers FB page.

Ernest Koffi, first match in charge of Trident football club, looking to avoid demotion to lower division football started on a losing streak, following Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Forest Rangers.

The Conquerors gave away a 1-0 lead as Fole Malembe cruised to a 1-3 win at the Solwezi Independence Stadium.

Mwenya Chipepo’s side has made Koffi’s work of helping Trident even more complicated with only nine matches left to play.

The last nine matches will require Trident to at least win all matches to stand a chance of surviving relegation in the current season.

As things stand, Trident’s season point total is only 40 points, which is primarily the requirement to avoid relegation.

Koffi has expressed his realization of how difficult it will be to get the team out of the relegation zone.

“It’s a daunting task, but we have no choice but to execute our job as coaches,” Koffi stated. “We are still working on the minds of the players especially errors from the defenders. We just have to work on their mental strength.”

He has also lamented his team’s lack of mental toughness and said that the technical bench will improve the team’s tactical execution.

“When you talk of mental strength, there is also mental fitness because the brain controls the body. When you are playing, it is all about the brain, so the focus, the concentration, and how to execute what is in the head are what matter,” he stated.
