Despite carrying some injuries ahead of their rescheduled week five fixture, head coach Chisi Mbewe feels, his side, Red Arrows has enough quality, to face winless Zesco United at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.
Red Arrows is leading the table with 31 points, from 13 matches. With 11 points from 10 hours matches, Zesco United is 13th.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the match, Mbewe said, “We have depth in the team, but also we have got players who are on the injury list; they are quite a number. Moyela has been out with a knee injury, Kombe has been out, and Dickson—we are happy that Lewis is back into training after a shoulder injury,” he said.
Last weekend, Arrows registered a 2-0 victory against Mutondo Stars while Zesco United suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Nkwazi FC.
“Then again, we have John Silavwe, who also has got a knee injury. Otherwise the team has got the depth, and the players that have been selected are equal for the task,” he added.
Chisi insists the match will be tough but remains hopeful his boys will deliver.
“Not an easy game we play against Zesco, who are competing in the CAF Competition. I think it’s going to be a tricky game; it’s going to be a highly tactical game. The most important thing for us is that we have prepared; we know what we want out of this game, and we just need to make sure we work extra hard and maximize the three points,” concluded the coach.
The Zambian Premier league goes on a break after weekend fixtures, to resume after the 2025 AfCON in Morocco.
