Power Dynamos midfielder Salulani Phiri has attributed his successful stints with the Kitwe-based side to discipline and teamwork as he claimed his third MTN Super League medal as a player.

The 31-year-old seasoned campaigner previously lifted the title with Zanaco FC before winning it twice with Power Dynamos, cementing his legacy as one of Zambia’s most consistent and decorated midfielders.

In an interview, Phiri, who also had a stint in South Africa, reflected on his journey with humility and pride.

“I think the commitment from the players, the discipline also, the enthusiasm of wanting to win… but I think the discipline, also staying together, pushing in the right direction — I think that’s what has been the main, main factor,” he said.

Known for his industrious style and tactical awareness, Phiri has not only been a vital cog in midfield but also a source of inspiration for younger teammates. His leadership, both on and off the pitch, has been instrumental in Power Dynamos’ recent success.

He, however, acknowledged the physical toll the game takes, pointing out that injuries remain one of the most significant hurdles for players at the top level.

“Of course, football is a contact game — we get a lot of injuries. Sometimes you get injuries that you think you won’t come back from, but by the grace of God, you’re able to come back. That’s the most important thing,” he noted.
