MTN Super League team Kansanshi Dynamos lost 1-0 to Mutondo Stars on the road in Kitwe on Sunday, extending their winless streak to four games.
Zeddy Saileti, the team’s head coach, acknowledged that the outcome was tough to accept, particularly after his team had a strong start.
“Of course it’s disappointing as a coach. Each coach wants to win, and today was a good chance to catch up with teams around us. We really needed this win.”
Kansanshi dominated the opening exchanges but were unable to convert their opportunities before Mutondo scored a game-winning goal.
“It’s very disappointing because the way we started, we started very well in the first 20 minutes.”
Saileti also criticized his team’s strategy, claiming they undervalued their rivals.
“But we seemed to underrate Mutondo, and they took advantage. They had one chance, they scored, and from that moment the game became tough because we didn’t play our own game.”
Dynamos made their league debut after the international break with the game, but the coach voiced concerns about some of his players’ level of fitness and agility.
“Some players had knocks and didn’t seem to be in the game. We need to sit with the medical team to ensure players are fit to play because some didn’t show the right character.”
The Mabanga Boys, who are currently in the relegation zone, will be looking to win when they play Green Eagles in Week 5; Eagles lost to FC MUZA 1-0.
“We know we’ve disappointed our fans and sponsors. Now it’s up to us, the players and technical bench, to bounce back. If we win, we can redeem our confidence.”
