Red Arrows FC defender Zephaniah Phiri finally made his first appearance for the club after being sidelined for over seven months due to injury.
Phiri sustained a groin injury while on duty with the Chipolopolo boys and had been out of action since last year.
On his return, the former Prison Leopards defender impressed, playing the full 90 minutes and providing an assist to help his side collect maximum points against Indeni in Week 32 of the Super League.
With only two matches left before the 2024/25 Super League season concludes, Phiri will be hoping to break into the starting lineup and help his team finish the campaign on a strong note.
Arrows are currently in 5th place with 50 points from 32 matches. If they secure maximum points in their remaining fixtures, they could finish in the top four of the log standings.
Speaking to Bolanews in an exclusive interview, Phiri expressed his joy at returning to the pitch.
“I started playing after a long injury on a good note with an assist. It was an awesome experience, though I felt a bit slow from the start, but after some minutes all was good. The feeling was normal,” he said.
“In the dressing room everyone said I had a good game, the experience and maturity showed even from the bench too, as for the coach I didn’t have a one-on-one chat with him,” Phiri said.
Red Arrows Will Be Back- Phiri
The Chipolopolo defender is looking forward to more game time in the final two matches.
“I know the league is coming to an end soon, but in the remaining two matches, I am hoping the technical bench will give me a chance to play. It’s been a bad season for the team. I just hope we will finish in the top four of the log standings, then we go back and plan for next season. I can assure you we are coming to compete next season,” concluded Phiri.
Meanwhile, Red Arrows will visit Forest Rangers on Saturday in their Week 33 fixture.
