NAPSA Stars secured a 1-0 victory over Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday in Week 24 of the MTN Super League, earning maximum points at home and edging further away from the relegation zone.
After defeating a Mufulira team that was playing well, head coach Sipho Mumbi expressed his satisfaction with the outcome and the drive inside his team.
“We are very motivated with this win considering the team we were playing against—Maite Mufulira Wanderers—they have been doing quite well, so I think we will take these three points and try to move on,” Mumbi said.
The win sees the Pensioners extend their gap from the relegation zone from two points to five while maintaining 11th place on the table.
Looking ahead, Mumbi shifted focus to their next match against defending champions Red Arrows, acknowledging the tough challenge ahead and stressing the need for proper preparation.
“It’s going to be a very crucial game. Red Arrows has been on the high. We are going to play at their home—it won’t be easy, but we have to prepare more, especially coming from this game,” he added.
Jimmy Mukeya’s goal in the eighth minute, which sealed the victory, thrilled Mumbi. “Our game plan worked because we scored under 20 minutes,” he said.
