Mufulira Wanderers Football Club have officially confirmed the appointment of Lameck Banda as the club’s new head coach, barely 24 hours after announcing the departure of Tenant Chilumba.
Banda has signed a three-year deal with the Mufulira-based MTN Super League side, becoming the latest man tasked with leading the legendary “Mighty” into a new era.
“The coaches have joined us for a start. We expect them to be here even for more than ten years, but for a start, their duration for contracts will be for three years,” revealed club acting CEO Evans Chinyata.
Joining Banda on the technical bench is Bupe Chewe, who comes in as first assistant coach. The two reunite after previously working together at Lumwana Radiants and Prison Leopards during the 2023/24 season.
The youthful duo is expected to bring a fresh approach to the team, with Banda known for his emphasis on developing young talent—a trait he showcased during his time at FC MUZA. His philosophy of fluid, possession-based football has drawn admiration and aligns with what many Maite fans hope to see at Shinde Stadium.
“We have a project, and if you look at our team, most of our players are young players. Having young, vibrant coaches to run with the players, we expect good results,” Chinyata added.
