Zanaco head coach Numba Mumamba has expressed concern over the team’s league position but remains hopeful they can avoid relegation.
The Bankers have suffered two consecutive defeats, pushing them closer to the relegation zone. Their most recent loss, a 3-1 setback against Nkwazi, saw them drop to 14th place with 32 points from 29 matches.
With seven wins, 11 draws, and 11 losses, Zanaco now find themselves hovering just above the relegation zone and are desperate for maximum points in today’s match to revive their hopes of staying in the Super League.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the game, Mumamba said: “We have prepared adequately for tomorrow’s game. I think we are coming from two consecutive losses, which makes our position on the log a dicey situation, but looking at what we’ve done in training, the team is set and looking forward to the game.”
Mumamba also admitted his concerns: “Of course, we are very much worried looking at the games that are remaining. We have only a few games left where we need to pull up our socks and make sure we work extra hard in the remaining few games so that we survive relegation.”
He remained optimistic, adding: “We are in high spirits; all we need is just to apply ourselves so that we go back home with the maximum points.”
A win for Zanaco in today’s match would move them up to 12th place with 35 points.
