Former River Plate head coach Noel Phiri is expected to be unveiled as the new head coach of FC Muza, BolaNews has learnt.
Phiri, who is an assistant coach at Green Buffaloes, is set to replace Lameck Banda, who parted ways with the Elegant Dynamites last season and was officially appointed Mufulira Wanderers head coach on Tuesday.
Sources indicate that negotiations have been concluded and Phiri’s unveiling is imminent.
The former Real Nakonde boss returns to Mazabuka after six years. He previously led FC Muza to promotion into the Super League in 2018.
A BolaNews source confirmed that the deal is done and Phiri will soon take over the reins.
“Coach Phiri has finalized the deal with the Club and is expected to be introduced to the team soon. As you may be aware, there is no time—the league will be starting in a few weeks, so he needs to start working with the team. He has been at Muza before and I’m sure he will help the team get back to competitive football,” said the source.
FC Muza will kick off their new campaign with a tough opening fixture against Zanaco at Mazabuka Stadium.
The Elegant Dynamites will be looking to bounce back with a stronger performance after a challenging season marked by inconsistency.
