Nkana legend Kenneth ‘Bubble’ Malitoli has hailed Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo “for the job done so far,” since his appointment to replace Ian Bakala earlier in the season.
Chipepo’s appointment as Nkana coach to replace Bakala was seen as a gamble by many people, but the former Prison Leopards, Indeni, Forest Rangers, and Power Dynamos coach has managed to steady the Nkana ship.
Malitoli, a certified Nkana legend, told Bolanews in an interview that taking up the Nkana job was not always going to be easy, but Chipepo seems to have handled it well so far.
“The Nkana job is not the easiest. It is a tough job, the weight is so much and I think I am happy with the way Mwenya has handled it so far. It was brave for him to accept the job.
“Everything seems to be going on well, I think the players have bought into what he is trying to do, and that is important for a coach, players have to buy into what you are telling them,” Malitoli said.
Malitoli, who is also a former Nkana coach, said the team has done well so far, albeit the recorded a few bad results.
“Of course you don’t expect things to be rosy all the way; there could be bad results here and there that are football. You expect that things will be smooth all the way,” he said.
Nkana is still in the running for the title; they sit fourth with 43 points, five behind leaders Power Dynamos.
