Nchanga Rangers FC head coach, Robert Tembo, has voiced concerns about the way his team has played in the past two games.
In Weeks Five and Six of the MTN Super League, the Chingola-based team lost consecutively to ZESCO United and Napsa Stars, respectively.
In the most recent setback, Napsa Stars defeated them 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the REIZ Arena after putting on a brilliant display.
Tembo’s charges now sit in eighth place with seven points after the loss, while the Pensioners have eight points and have moved up to seventh.
“A very painful loss; losing 3-0 away—it is very disappointing. We have lost two games in a row; we lost to Napsa Stars away for sure; it is a very disappointing result,” he said in a post-match interview.
Tembo continued: “The substitutes that went in, only one brought a spark, which is a concern to us; when we bring substitutes, they should be able to bring in change and liveliness, and we went on to concede another goal. I believe we still have a lot of work to do in terms of defending.”
Tembo shifts focus to surviving relegation
Tembo urged his team to up their game if they are to survive in the topflight this season.
“We have played six games, lost three, won two, and drawn one, which is not good for a team that wants to survive and remain in the Super League. So far the losses have surpassed the wins, so I think it is not a good performance of the team.
“We need to up our game; the target for this season is to remain in the Super League now looking at the pace we are going on; we need to pull up our socks because football we have to be picking points home and away; if we don’t pick three points, a draw is better.”
