Zambian MTN Super League side Nchanga Rangers FC have fired their head coach Robert Tembo and replaced him with former Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi.

Club vice president Shapi Shachinda confirmed the news in a statement this afternoon and thanked Tembo and his assistant coaches for their outstanding work at the club, particularly their promotion to the Super League last season.

Chiyangi has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend it at the end of his tenure, according to Shapi, and is tasked with immediately reviving the team’s form and performance.

His assistant coaches will be announced in due course, according to the club vice president.

“Mr. Chiyangi does not require any introduction to the Zambian football scene as a former international player and accomplished coach. We believe his coaching pedigree will take our club to another level as we continue with our ambition to restore our pride as one of Zambia’s premier and household names.

“Our focus is to stay in the Super League and begin to compete for trophies in the coming season.” “The club’s executive committee believes that coach Chiyangi has that competitive edge to achieve the club’s high ambitions,” he said.

Chiyangi’s contract was terminated by Green Eagles earlier this season after they placed him on administrative leave following a string of poor results, and he will hope to improve things at the Nchanga Rangers, who are currently ranked 13th in the league standings with 21 points.
