Namazaba was appointed interim head coach on October 5, 2022, to steady the ship until his promotion today.
His first assignment was a game at home against Kabwe Warriors FC, which ended in a promising 0-0 draw, but he has since performed resoundingly, recording 6 wins and three losses.
Namazaba has been formally named as the club’s head coach with immediate effect by Lt Gen Maliti Solochi, the commander of the Zambia National Service who are the club owners.
The team’s performance in yesterday’s Week 16 match at Nkoloma Stadium against the defending MTN/FAZ Super League champions, Red Arrows, thrilled Gen. Solochi, who then promoted Namazaba as head coach.
Eagles earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Red Arrows yesterday to move into fourth place with 26 points in the league rankings.
Additionally, the club recently revealed that coach Aggrey Chiyangi’s contract had been terminated.
Chiyangi had been placed on administrative leave as a result of a spate of unsuccessful performances at the start of the season.
