13-times Zambian Champions, Nkana returned to winning ways in style with a dominant 5-1 victory over Atletico Lusaka at home on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking after the match, head coach Mwenya Chipepo dedicated the win to the fans, acknowledging their recent struggles after two consecutive losses and a draw.

“I am very happy because we lost two games in a row and drew last week, but we were playing at home. At least we have put a smile on the supporters.”
Despite the emphatic win, Nkana remain outside the top four, sitting in 5th place with 37 points—four points behind league leaders Kabwe Warriors.
However, Chipepo remains optimistic about their title chances, especially considering the team was in the relegation zone when he took over.

“The race is still on. Remember, our main focus was just to survive relegation, but the guys have really improved. Let’s wait and see what happens by the end of the season—there are still so many games to play.”
Up next, Nkana face Green Eagles, who head into the fixture following a 1-0 defeat to Nkwazi.
Chipepo is preparing for the match like a cup final, knowing Eagles won’t be an easy opponent.
“We are taking each game like a cup final because Green Eagles is not a small team.”
